Dear EUSD Families,
As we head into a long weekend, I encourage you to take some time to join the conversation on Thoughtexchange to provide your input on the development of the district’s new, three-year Local Control and Accountability Plan, known as the LCAP. The LCAP is a blueprint tied to state funding that describes how our schools support the success of all students.
Participate in the Thoughtexchange here, and follow the discussion focused on this guiding question: What are the most important services and programs that EUSD should prioritize as we support all students over the next three years? Your feedback helps us identify local needs and spending priorities as we plan for the next school year and beyond. We encourage you to return to the Thoughtexchange frequently to view and comment on the thoughts of others.
Here are this week’s updates and reminders.
Presidents Day: All EUSD schools and the district office will be closed on Friday, February 12, and Monday, February 15, in observance of the Presidents Day holiday.
Nutrition: With schools closed Monday, February 15, in observance of Presidents Day, meal distribution will take place on Tuesday, February 16. Additional meals were included in today's distribution. The distribution of no-cost meals returns to the regular schedule on Thursday. The twice-weekly distribution of no-cost, to-go meals takes place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays at all school sites. Multiple meals are included in these distributions.
School choice: The School Choice application window for the 2021-2022 school year is Wednesday, February 17. School Choice is an opportunity for families to apply for an intradistrict transfer for their child to attend a school other than their neighborhood school of residence. An informational letter about School Choice will be mailed to families this week. Details on School Choice can be found on our website.
Kindergarten registration: New student registration for incoming Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students for the 2021-2022 school year opens Wednesday, February 17. Registration information can be found here.
The Season for Nonviolence: For 23 years, EUSD has recognized The Season for Nonviolence, which marks the 64 days between the anniversaries of the deaths of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30 and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4. During this time we honor the work of these legendary peacemakers by teaching our students the importance of the values of peace, kindness, social justice, and gratitude as we work towards fostering safe and welcoming school communities.
COVID-19: Please continue to adhere to all COVID-19 health and safety protocols to keep our community safe and to maintain on-campus instruction. Do not send your child to school if they are sick in any way; if they are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test; if your child has symptoms of or has tested positive for COVID-19; or if your child has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Continue to wear a face mask at all times outside of your home, maintain physical distance when engaging with anyone outside your household, and avoid unnecessary gatherings.
Visit the County of San Diego County website for the most up-to-date information on free COVID testing and vaccination eligibility and appointments.
